Viking Mines Limited
Viking Mines Ltd (formerly Viking Ashanti Ltd) was established in 2007 to explore for, develop and mine mineral deposits. The Company is currently active in two countries, Mongolia for coal and Ghana for gold.
In Mongolia, the Company has two advanced coal projects, Berkh Uul and Khonkhor Zag.
Berkh Uul is located 400 km north of Ulaanbaatar in north-eastern Mongolia. The deposit consists of shallow, consistent coal seams of high quality bituminous coal amenable to low strip ratio open pit mining. Berkh Uul has a JORC classified Indicated and Inferred resource of 38 million tonnes.
In Ghana, the Company has two project areas, Akoase and West Star/Blue River.
Both projects are located in southern Ghana within the Ashanti Gold Belt, one of the most highly gold endowed and tightly held geological provinces in the world. Numerous multi-million ounce gold deposits are located within and on the margins of the Ashanti Gold Belt, including two of the largest gold deposits in the world, Obuasi and Tarkwa.
The Akoase project has a JORC classified Inferred resource of 790,000 ounces of contained gold from surface to an average 140 metres depth, with excellent potential for resource increase immediately along strike and down dip of the current deposit.
